Big Brother Update: Prezzo calls Goldie a ‘true woman’

Kenyan rapper and Goldie‘s ‘boyfriend’ Prezzo has lauded her attributes, calling her a ‘true woman’.

He said this during his conversation with fellow house-mate DKB, in which he confessed his distaste for Zainab, who he describes as ‘dumb’. Criticizing her provocative dress sense and flirty manner, he said there was no way he would start a relationship with Zainab because he prefers a more conservative woman.

‘I can’t make this shorty my woman because her boobs are always displayed‘, he said.

As far as Goldie was concerned, the Kenyan rapper was full of praises, adding that even if he were to leave the Nigerian singer, he still wouldn’t hook up with Zainab.

Tension mounts in Opi, Nsukka Local Government Area, Enugu State as masquerades took turn in the series of rape stories synonymous with the community.  The alleged rape of a female student, Ngozika Ugwu, presented mixed feelings and reactions to what may have bedevilled the community in the recent past.
Rape stories in Opi, a community in the university town of Nsukka, have occupied major national dailies, hitting banner headlines, from the three quarters that make up the community, Idi, Ogbozalla and Ibeku.
In 2011, the story of the rape of women between 70 and 80 years spread like wild fire in the country, raising eyebrows on the motive for such inhuman and barbaric act by, especially, youths of the community. Tell me a bit about yourself; what was your childhood like?

Well, I was born in Umuahia but spent most of my childhood in Lagos after our family moved here. I am the eldest of four kids. I have always loved music and started banging drums and instruments when I was a kid. As I grew older, I started experimenting with different sounds even if they didn’t make sense.

What inspired you to go into music?

I have always been surrounded by music growing up. My father was in the music business and retains a very special interest in it until today. Music was part and parcel of our everyday life.

Was it an easy take breaking into the Nigerian entertainment industry?

God has been extremely generous to me so thankfully it has not been so bad. But believe me, there were some trials. After we set up, we even considered selling it off when some offers came in. If not that there were some delays, we may have sold for like N1m. Fortunately, it was not to be and God allowed us go from strength to strength.

Contrary to some of your predecessors, it didn’t take you long to create a niche for yourself as the don of the Nigerian entertainment and the beats master. What was the secret behind your success?

God almighty, a lot of hard work, a wonderful team, loads of practice and study of the music game, knowing what the people want, and loving what I do.

The birth of MAVIN signifies a new era for you. How do you feel about it?

I feel gingered and ready to work as always. Nothing stops. We will just keep working. I’m excited because things look beautiful so far for a new company. I am the kind of person who always looks forward to what he does. MAVIN is like a new child for me and I am so excited about it. On the day we launched I could hardly even sleep.

Students arrested for having charms, alcohol at Children's Day celebration

Officials suspect the students are members of secret cults, said to be mushrooming in high schools
Five secondary school students were on Sunday arrested at the venue of the National Children’s Day Celebration in Abeokuta, Ogun State, held at the Moshood Abiola Stadium for being in possession of charms and intoxicating wines.
The arrest of the culprits were effectef by officials of the National Security and Civil Defence Corps(NSCDC), following a search on them as hundreds of students were trooping into the stadium to be part of the celebration.

Four of the arrested students, whose names were withheld by the authorities, were from Rev Kuti Memorial Grammar School, while one came from Lantoro Grammar School, Abeokuta.

On enquiry, the suspects could not give satisfactory answer to the exhibits found on them, but admitted that they came to the stadium to be part of the celebration. They were, however, whisked away for further interrogation.
As at the time of this reports, the arrested students, whose ages range between 14 and 17 years, were still in custody of the authorities, as suspicion thickened that they might be members of secret cults now mushrooming in high schools.
Contacted, NSCDC's spokesperson, Olanrewaju Kareem, confirmed the arrest, explaining that the students they were found with various charms and alcohol while in school uniforms.
Mr. Kareem said on interrogation, the culprits could not give satisfactory explanation on the exhibits found on them.
"From investigations conducted so far, they may likely be cultists," Mr. Kareem said. "But investigation is still ongoing and we are equally working in conjunction with Ministry of Education to get rid of crimes from students

Air Nigerian Plane Refused to Start.

 
Passengers aboard an Abuja-bound Air Nigeria plane at the Murtala Muhammed Airport (MM2) panicked on Sunday as the engine of the aircraft refused to start.
All had been set for the first flight for the day by Air Nigeria to Abuja, when after several attempts, the pilot was unable to start the engine.
The pilot then explained to the passengers that the development was caused by the fact that the ground power could not ignite the engine.
However, after three different ones were brought and the aircraft engine still failed start, the passengers demanded that the aircraft crew open the door so they could disembark.

23-Year-Old Woman electrocuted after high tension wires fell on her shop

23 year old Blessing Eyo Okon was electrocuted on Friday afternoon May 25th at Mount Zion Rd, Calabar, after a PHCN cable cut and fell at the corridor of her hair dressing salon.The wires above Blessing's shop fell as a result of heavy rain; unfortunately her floor was wet and she was bare feet. Not only did the electric shock kill Blessing, the sad incident also set her shop on fire, destroying the property. Blessing's body has been deposited at the Calabar General Hospital Mortuary.

Football Star Jailed Six years ago For Rape he didn't Commit: Seeks Compensation

A former high school football who was wrongfully accused of rape and sentenced to six years in prison now wants the State of California to pay him for every day he had spent behind bars. Attorneys representing 26-year-old Brian Banks said their client is entitled to $100 a day for every day of his incarceration under state law.
Banks was exonerated this week after his accuser, Wanetta Gibson, admitted she had made up the whole story of sexual assault ten years ago and had been reluctant to come forward because of a large settlement she received from the school district.
The Los Angeles Times has reported that Gibson also had been worried it would affect her relationship with her two children, now aged four and five. Banks, a once sought-after linebacker, collapsed in tears in the courtroom on Thursday when his case was moved to dismissal.
Banks' exoneration came after Gibson sent him a friend request on Facebook when he left prison in February of 2011 with a tag. In a message, she explained she wanted to 'let bygones be bygones'.
Banks's lawyer, Justin Brooks, told KPCC that Gibson and Banks met and she was caught on video saying there there had been no kidnap and no rape, and would help him clear his record.
Yet she refused to repeat the story to prosecutors as she feared she would have to return a $1.5million payment she won after her mother brought a suit against Long Beach Schools. She was quoted as telling Banks: 'I will go through with helping you but it's like at the same time all that money they gave us, I mean gave me, I don't want to have to pay it back.'

If you think the ‘romance’ between Upvillers Prezzo and Goldie is over after their heated argument, then you’d better think again!

Nigerian Man dies after cocaine burst in his stomach

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has confirmed the death of Edwin Ozoani, 34, a commercial bus driver, who died after a wrap of cocaine he ingested burst in his stomach.
Mitchell Ofoyeju, the NDLEA Head of Public Affairs, said the deceased, who returned from Brazil on-board a South African Airline flight, was arrested at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA) in Lagos.
"During screening, he tested positive to drug ingestion and was placed on observation," he said. "He excreted 10 wraps of substances that tested positive for cocaine, weighing 180 grammes. While still under observation, he complained of stomach pain and was rushed to the hospital where he eventually died. A post-mortem examination revealed that his death was due to one of the wraps of cocaine he ingested that ruptured in his stomach."

Gunmen armed with assault rifles, on Saturday May 26th opened fire on a group of card players at the Filin Kashu relaxation spot in Gaida, Kano, killing four people and injuring several others.
The gunmen came in two separate motorcycles around 6pm, shot at the crowded fun spot and shot in the air for about 20 minutes before speeding away. The shooting caused a stampede, which led to the injury of several moreThis is the second time this year a fun spot patronized by card players will be attacked. Bishop Oyedepo Denies Slapping Church Member, Says He Cannot Be Sued

"We submit that slapping being an act of assault an item outside the provisions of Chapter 4 of the 1999 constitution and the African Charter, this court therefore lacks jurisdiction over same."
The multi billionaire founder of the Living Faith Christian Church International, Bishop David Oyedepo, has denied slapping a young member of his congregation; stating that neither he nor his church could be sued.
In a notice of preliminary objection filed at the High Court of Ogun State and made available to PREMIUM TIMES; Bishop Oyedepo maintained that he and his church are "non juristic persons" and therefore asked the court to strike out the suit as it lacked jurisdiction to adjudicate on the matter.
Robert Igbinedion, a Lagos based lawyer, had in April, filed a suit on behalf of the young lady, who was slapped during a church service, for the enforcement of the lady's fundamental rights to freedom from inhuman and degrading treatment, human dignity, fair hearing, and freedom from discrimination.
Mr. Igbinedion prayed the court to award the sum of N2bn as 'general and exemplary damages' against the bishop as well as compel him to publish a public apology in two national dailies and one international satellite television.
In a counter affidavit deposed by Olugbenga Adegboye, the church's senior legal officer, Bishop Oyedepo stated that "his ministry is a ministry where the holy bible is preached and people are prayed for without coercion."
The church also said that there is no record of anyone called Miss Justice - a sobriquet given to the young lady for the purpose of the suit - in any of its services organized in the past.
A written address to support the preliminary objection signed by F. B Agbanwu, the church's Solicitor, insisted that the matter is not within the Nigeria constitution or the African Charter on Human and People's Rights.
Furthermore, the church urged the court to determine whether Mr. Igbinedion is capable of "bringing this kind of application" before it and whether "it is proper to bring this application against the 1st and 2nd respondents (Bishop Oyedepo and his church respectively).
Arguing that both Mr. Igbinedion and the respondents cannot sue and be sued, Bishop Oyedepo's lawyers noted that the cause of action must centre on clear infringement of a fundamental right.
"The cause of action or principal claim in this application centres merely on slapping one Miss Justice by the 1st respondent.
"The slapping of Miss Justice is an act that could be described as an assault which is a criminal offence punishable under the criminal code...
"We submit that slapping being an act of assault an item outside the provisions of Chapter 4 of the 1999 constitution and the African Charter, this court therefore lacks jurisdiction over same."
The court sits, June 1, for parties to adopt their motion before judgment is fixed.
In December last year, a YouTube video of Bishop Oyedepo viciously slapping a young lady who admitted that she was "a witch for Jesus" during an altar call went viral on the internet.
A second video that surfaced days later showed the bishop justifying his action adding that it is "his ministry to slap" and that "if he sees another witch, he'll slap."

R.I.P! Danfo Driver Dies In NDLEA Custody While Excreting Cocaine

 
Drug ingestion as a means of evading arrest has turned suicidal for a 34 year old commercial bus driver in Lagos who met his untimely death over a wrap that ruptured. The deceased, Ozoani Sunny Edwin allegedly returned from Brazil onboard a South African Airline flight at the Murtala Mohammed International Airport (MMIA).During screening, he tested positive to drug ingestion and was placed on observation. He excreted 10 wraps of substances that tested positive for cocaine weighing 180 grammes. While still under observation, he complained of stomach pain and was rushed to the hospital where he eventually died. A post-mortem examination revealed that his death was due to one of the wraps of cocaine he ingested that ruptured in his stomach.
Worried by the sudden demise of the drug suspect coupled with other Nigerians in death roll in foreign countries over drug related offences, the Chairman/Chief Executive of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Ahmadu Giade reiterated his call for stiffer penalties for drug trafficking. According to Giade, “until we get the penalty right, drug trafficking will remain attractive. Every case of drug trafficking involving type A drugs like cocaine, heroin and methamphetamine runs into several millions of naira. We must therefore wield the big stick against offenders to serve as deterrence. I am optimistic that adherence to stringent bail conditions and minimum of 15 years jail term will turn the tide of events”.
Giade described the death as sad and painful. “This death is sad and painful. The deceased would have been alive to face trial and ultimately given opportunity to learn from his mistakes. I urge members of the public to shun drug trafficking and make quality choices that will enable them maximise their destinies” the NDLEA boss opined.
NDLEA Airport Commander, Hamza Umar added that the family members of the deceased have applied for the corpse to be released to them after the autopsy. “Following the sad incident, we made contact with the family members. They also witnessed the operation where the ruptured wrap of cocaine that killed their son was recovered from his stomach. The Agency has also granted their request for the corpse to release to them” Hamza explained.
Preliminary investigation showed that the deceased Ozoani Sunny Edwin travelled to Brazil in search of greener pastures on 3rd of March 2012. He told investigators that the drug deal was not in his plan when he left the country. In the words of Ozoani, “I am a bus driver and I came to Lagos in 2000. I was able to save 850,000 naira that I used in travelling to Brazil in search of better jobs. The condition I met in Brazil was unbearable. I had language problem and also lacked work permit. I suffered until a Brazilian lured me into the drug deal as a last resort because I was almost stranded”.
Ozoani hails from Enugu State. He attended Nwueodobo Primary School Ngwo and Christ High School Abor both in Enugu State. He lived at Ejigbo area of Lagos.

The most recent tragic event occurred two weeks ago at Akpoha community in Afikpo North local government area of the state, when a house wife simply identified as Ogeri allegedly set her husband’s lover ablaze.
The fire burnt the co- wife to death. Tragically too, when the alleged offender was arrested by the police, her one-year-old child died probably out of shock. Ogeri’s husband, Mr. UroObasi, a commercial motor cycle operator was also arrested.
The victim of the recent Akpoha tragedy, a 22 year-old girl, whose name was given as Miss Felicia hailed from Igbo in Abi local government area of Cross River State. It is not yet clear if she was ever married to Obasi, as the first wife is claiming.

BlackBerry Lovers Found Dead Inside A Car

 
Incidences of lovers being found dead inside vehicles around Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital have been generating reactions from the public. While some residents blame the incidents on poor security vigilance in the hospital, others point fingers at what they see as an emerging social problem associated with the proliferation of social networking, especially on mobile phones.
Recently, the lifeless bodies of a man and woman - Najib Aliyu Yunusa and Nadiya Abdullahi Gwammaja - were discovered decomposing at a quiet area inside Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital by passersby who were attracted by an odious smell that was oozing from a heavily tinted saloon car.
A source from the lady’s family, who claimed to be her younger brother, said Nadiya was a divorcee and had a 6-year-old daughter from her last marriage, while Najib, a manager of a filling station in Abuja, was her ‘BlackBerry Fiend’ who was also married and had two children. “We discovered that she obtained the contact of the deceased man from one of her closest female friends in our area,” he said.
A hospital official said after patients complained about some strange smell, workers traced the source of the odour to the car in which the decomposing bodies were found at about 7pm last Monday. “The deceased were suspected to have died since Friday when they came there and parked; only God knows what happened”, Aminu Inuwa Ringim, the hospital’s spokesman told reporters.
People, who were in the area when the corpses were evacuated, said there was no sign of physical injuries or violence on them. “The only unusual thing was that blood was seen trickling down the noses of both corpses which were swollen up… They might have probably been poisoned elsewhere before they came into the hospital”, a patient’s relative, Musa Garba noted.
A medical source, who spoke to our reporter on condition of anonymity, lamented that the hospital has been allowed to be used by some people as a relaxation and not a health centre.

The lovers initially postponed their wedding from May 19, 2012, due to the Champions League final, as Sarah’s dad, a Manchester City fan, said if his team got to the final, he’d be in Munich.

Lady Gaga has been forced to cancel her sold-out show in Indonesia over security concerns after Muslim hard-liners threatened violence.
The Islamic Defenders said Lady Gaga's sexy clothes and provocative dance moves would corrupt youth in the world's most populous Muslim country. The group said supporters had bought tickets to the concert and planned to enter and force it to be stopped and threatened that thousands of protesters would confront the singer on her way from the airport.
Police had said they would only issue the required permits for the concert if Lady Gaga agreed to tone things down. Instead, she pulled the plug on the show, which had sold out with more than 50,000 tickets.

Gaga had tweeted few days ago "The Jakarta situation is 2-fold: Indonesian authorities demand I censor the show & religious extremist separately, are threatening violence". 

Jakarta was supposed to be the biggest stop on Lady Gaga's Asian tour, with 52,000 tickets scooped up in just a few days.The show was scheduled to hold June 3,2012.
"This is a victory for Indonesian Muslims," said Salim Alatas, one of the leaders of the hard-line group. "Thanks to God for protecting us from a kind of devil."
